Volunteer Program
BGCSA has three priority areas for impact, good character and citizenship, healthy lifestyle and academic success. BGCSA has a variety of educational programmes such as Power Hour homework help; a Financial Literacy programme called Money Matters; a Digital Literacy programme called Skills Tech; Life Skills programmes such as Smart Girls, Smart Guys, and the Keystone Leadership Club. One of the Core programmes, Power hour helps children complete their homework after school before they do anything else in the Club.
BGCSA are looking for volunteers that are passionate about International Development and interested in an opportunity to gain on the ground experience with a Community-Based Organization. We expect our volunteers to respond to the challenges with creativity and ingenuity. Volunteers should be keen to take initiative and ownership over their work and drive the organisation forward. They must feel that they can transfer valuable capabilities to our local South African Team. And last but not least our volunteers must be as excited about the programme structures and the children’s development as much as we are. We offer two volunteer programmes: Individual Volunteering & Corporate Volunteering Corporate Volunteering is businesses supporting and encouraging staff involvement in the community. It is all about employees undertaking voluntary roles within a non-profit organisation or charitable community groups with the endorsement of their employer. Individual Volunteering is where an individual generously donates his or her time to the Club. Over and above BGCSA being a safe environment for children to develop and learn, it is also a place where members of the community or international volunteers can enhance and contribute to the activities and the Club. And so help us build a strong and valuable structure for the children.
